Pinkie and the Killers, Tulip Palette Knife Painting

"Pinkie and the Killers"
8" x  8" x 1.5", Oil on Canvas

Odd title for a painting?  There was a singing group in Japan in the '70's called Pinky and the Killer - at least I think Pinky was spelled with a "y"....Female lead singer with 4 men backup - kind of like Gladys Knight and the Pips.  They often dress in tux's and a Top Hat with canes.....I might have been reminiscing because of all the news from Japan.

When I posted this painting on FB, several alumni from my high school in Japan commented that they remembered the group and liked the title.

Well it's officially Spring now and tulips just feel so Spring.  Although I don't know if I can name just one flower to that honor....blooming trees, daffodils, hyacinths, all feel like Spring.

Have a lovely day!

Fascination - A painting of tulips

So much to write about. I've taken a couple of pottery classes with Kim Norris but I haven't any photos to post. I'm covered with clay when I am finished and my pieces are lopsided... But Kim has started me with the wheel - when she touches the clay it's magic, when I touch it...ha!

Tomorrow I'll be at Grapevine Mainstreet Art Gallery during their Christmas Market. If the weather is permits? I've joined the artists at Grapevine Mainstreet Art Gallery - and have some of my paintings exhibited there. If you are ever in Grapevine, Texas the address is 121 Main Street. Stop by!

I painted the above last week when my painting friend, Nancy Medina, and I painted at Cafe de Soleil. I enjoy painting with her because we are on the same page and can bounce ideas off of each other.

Treasures - A Painting of a Vase of Tulips

I'm liking the square format. I stretched a bunch of canvases in the 14x14" squares to paint this series of flowers. This one is of tulips. I have been meaning to paint tulips ever since my childhood friend, Debbie mentioned that tulips were her favorite flowers. These are not in the color she likes but tulips were on my mind....

"Treasures", 14" x 14", Oil on stretched canvas, Palette knife work.
