It's been a while since I've blogged and I'm out of practice but I feel I need to.  This is a painting I did last year from a photo.  The photo featured different colored flowers but that's where a bit of artistic license takes over.

Angel Oil Painting, Pink Boots, Palette Knife Oil Painting

A while back I painted an angel with Cowboy boots on.  On that post someone commented that if she were to have an angel she'd have on pink boots because she is a breast cancer survivor.  With that in mind I painted several angels with pink boots.    These angels with cowboy boots just seem to have an attitude - I like angels with attitudes.

I have this painting on display at the Muse & Co Fine Art Gallery in Roswell, GA.  They have a number of my angels on display there.  If you are in Atlanta, do try to get over to Roswell where there are a number of really nice art galleries clustered in their historic downtown.  I am so happy to be a part of that art scene.

Pink Hydrangeas - Palette Knife Oil Painting

While visiting Japan, I noticed more of the pink, rich pink hydrangeas in the flower stores.  I've heard that the blues, purples and pinks have to do with the acidity and alkalinity of the soil the plants are grown it.  In Japan, I've heard people say that the rains make the flowers more blue.

I wanted to paint these with a warm aqua/turquoise blue background with lots of movement.  The flowers are almost abstract with all the thick paint that I've used.  This painting will take a little while to dry since it is so thick.

Pinkie and the Killers, Tulip Palette Knife Painting

Odd title for a painting?  There was a singing group in Japan in the '70's called Pinky and the Killer - at least I think Pinky was spelled with a "y"....Female lead singer with 4 men backup - kind of like Gladys Knight and the Pips.  They often dress in tux's and a Top Hat with canes.....I might have been reminiscing because of all the news from Japan.

When I posted this painting on FB, several alumni from my high school in Japan commented that they remembered the group and liked the title.

Well it's officially Spring now and tulips just feel so Spring.  Although I don't know if I can name just one flower to that honor....blooming trees, daffodils, hyacinths, all feel like Spring.

A few weeks ago, my doorbell rang and a lady delivery person asked me my name then handed me this lovely bouquet.  Full of pink roses, carnations, stocks, heathers and big yellow lilies.  Oh how I love delivered flowers  for no special occasion but just to be told "I'm thinking of you".

Yesterday evening, though it drizzled a little, I went to check out the Art Walk at one of our local cities, Keller. It was a fantastic evening of catching up with other art friends I'd not seen in months. The Art Walk started at the Keller Town Hall where Ann Hardy had her opening reception. Her paintings are stunning! It is such a learning experience to visit fellow artists' shows and exhibits.

Then on to Art251 Studio where my friend and potter Kim Norris exhibits. I love her "inspirational word bowls" and found one that was perfect - it reads "I'm still working on my fairy tale" Yep - that I am.

So, anyway a bit of a ramble - the title of this little painting...I love the sit-com "Big Bang Theory" on CBS - do you watch it? I sometimes feel like Penny...sometimes I think I know it all and sometimes I don't.

Sometimes we are our own enemy. The last post mentioned regret for the things we'd not done, but why don't we just do it? Like the Nike Ad? "Just Do It"...well for many many personal reasons most likely.

As long as the reasons are valid. For here's another quote to contemplate:

"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right" -- Henry Ford

I think we can defeat ourselves by saying "I can't" just as you can do anything you put your mind to. So I think I'll challenge myself to not say "I can't" and see how I might be able to "can" and "do". Even if it takes a few tries. Like the The Little Engine That Could...I should be saying, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" and chug along.
