Like everywhere else in the U.S., we're getting ice and snow.  For my birthday in December, my friends bought me a selection of canvases of various sizes.  This one is an 8 by 8 by 1.5 inches deep gallery wrapped canvas.  I think the snow has influenced my choice of colors as I kept it soft and white.

Thick Palette knife Painting

I had painted a painting called "I Celebrate You" last year and was asked to do another, so here it is. The background colors are deeper and the vase is blue rather than the dark green of the first painting.

It's already November!! Daylight savings, fall back on the clocks...where does the time go? Driving around at 4 in the afternoon feels like it is late at night and I hurry to get home.

And yet it was warm enough today to wish I was wearing sandals!

I'm happy these days.

Just plain, silly, giddy, joyfully happy. Ok, so they've discontinued my favorite perfume...big deal. It's raining outside; we need it. I have to postpone a trip to a friend's house because of scheduling conflict; my friend said - not a problem, so that's working out. I think it's attitude, don't you?

Little white flowers make me happy too. This photo of the painting came out a little darker but maybe it's my monitor. Hmmm it's almost like the song, "My favorite things" from Mary Poppins? These are a few of my favorite things...

White Daisies. In the movie "You've got Mail", Meg Ryan's character Kathleen likes Daisies.

There's a line in the movie - I had to look it up at imdb.com - in which she says: "Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life. Well, not small, but valuable. And sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void."

So here it is again, doing something that scares you...be valuable, be brave.
It's the cosmic question.

I Celebrate You

I liked how my painting "Anniversary" of red flowers in a green vase turned out that I had to try my hand at yet another vase of flowers. This time white flowers. "I Celebrate You" is 14x14x 3/4 inches. Oil on stretched canvas. The vase is a little greener that the photo work depicts. It is a little moody with a lot of grays and green-grays. Although "Anniversary" is also somber it has a lot of color; "I Celebrate You", I kept the colors muted and quiet.

I've just changed the background color on my blog so it will be interesting to see how it shows against the new color. While I type this entry, I'm typing on white so until I "publish post" I really can't tell.
