It's Spring.  I wanted to paint something Spring-like...soon it will be too hot to be outside here in Texas but for the moment we're enjoying beautiful comfortable weather with a lot of wildflowers blooming everywhere.

Field of Yellow Flowers

Last year we had a wet Spring here in North Texas. The low-lying, flat area of our property which touches the Army Corp of Engineer's land skirting Lake Grapevine flooded. This Spring, the orchard and vegetable garden that we had planted in years previous has been replaced by a field of volunteer Black-Eyed Susans, seeds which were deposited by the flood water.

This is a small painting, 4 x 4 inches, "Field of Yellow", Oil on gessoed masonite, painted with the palette knife.
