I don't think I posted this painting so here it is.  I do pet portraits but I'm particular - they are very small format paintings.  I think it works better this way.  The frames are easy to find and if one has more than one pet - it's easy to group on a way.

 

This is cousin-in-law's dog, Buck - the photo is a little lighter than the actually painting.  Photos don't seem to do it justice I think.

Mother's Day was Sunday.  I have no children so I don't get flowers like this but a friend's son presented her with this beautiful bouquet, the vase had a yellow ribbon.  She posted it on facebook and gave me permission to use it as a reference photo.  Now that I've taken a photo of it I'm thinking this painting might need a little tweaking here and there - but nonetheless, this is a special day bouquet.

Today is a quiet day.  It's been raining quietly, hushing the usual day sounds, even the birds' chirping is muted.  That is why the title seemed to linger in my thoughts.  White flowers on a dark background.  There are a lot of colors in the dark background from rich warm browns to blues and grays.

I like hearts.  Hearts and stars I think are great doodle subjects.  I had these cute canvases which I bought a while back and toned them with Alizarin Crimson.  It took what seemed forever to dry enough to paint on.  So now I'm playing with hearts.
