I have to think that I have some insecurities about my painting.  I easily say "yes" to a commission and then have anxiety about producing it.  I procrastinate and I find so much more to do than to actually sit and paint.  I get that analysis, paralysis.  I practice on other painting pieces, and then one day, after I've put it off long enough, I put paint on the canvas and it flows.

The painting above was not a commission.  It was one of those paintings that I painted instead of working on a commission.  I'd seen a friend's photo on a Facebook post and liked the "hug".  But then when I painted it the first time, it didn't work and I ended up wiping it all off.  The second time, in alla prima style, with the base paint still wet on the board, the above painting emerged.  The title was selected from the comments I received when I posted this painting on my Facebook Page.  Swept away because the first draft was "wiped away"

I haven't been posting regularly on my blog so I wonder just how many are following my post.  Life got in the way.  I moved, and then I moved again and not liking my decision I moved back to house #2.  I'm not sure I'm done yet.

I painted this painting last year, continuing on with my "His Shirt" series.  I started the series with White Shirt and Blue Shirt on a smaller board but moved on to the 8x8 size.  Available now on Artfinder.

A Shoulder to Lean on

It doesn't matter what the couple is looking at, I wanted to capture the moment I would be putting my head on someone's shoulder  This painting is a little abstract and simple.  I put a touch of yellow in the center/off center - could that be the rising sun, the setting sun or could that just be an allegory for something.

I posted this painting on Facebook and it was fun to read what some thought the two were looking at. 

This painting, for me, came about when I had exchanged some messages with a friend about some of the speed bumps we'd been tripping over.  And we told each other that we had a shoulder for each other to use whenever.

Fortunately for me, this painting sold almost immediately after I posted it on one of my online galleries.

A few years ago I painted feet and most of them sold fairly quickly.  Not that I have feet fetish but I think a painting that is abstract and minimal in nature are sometimes full of story lines.  I painted this last Summer but never posted it anywhere.  I was surprised and pleased that when I listed this painting on the online art gallery, it sold before the day was done and I received requests for more.

I have another one drying on the easel.  I'll be posting it soon.

btw my commissioner of the sail boat was pleased with her painting so *phew* !  I am relieved.

I've had this commission for several months - before Christmas but my life has been so topsy-turvy lately that I'd let the painting slide.  It's an excuse.  People have gone through worse tragedies and misfortunes and have yet had the tenacity to pick up a brush or palette knife and worked through it.

My heart is on it's way to recovery and my days, while still hectic can be tamed a bit.  I have good people, good friends who have supported me and kept me going.  I am so blessed with this - My Life.

At any rate, the commissioner was patient and allowed me to take all the time I needed...and so here is her painting...I've tentatively titled it "Sailing".  She is free to rename this, of course.

Although the box and movie "Fifty Shades of Gray" is abuzz right now, I wasn't thinking of it when I painted this series.  I was thinking of a color for the background - I didn't want to put in details - and in the process mixed Burnt Umber, Cerulean and White together and it came up with ta very warm gray which I've used here.  I think works well against the skin color and white shirt.
