Make My Day - A Pug Painting

To everyone who checks out my blog, you really make my day. I did this painting the other evening during my weekly paint with friends night. It is almost like a sketch but I like to painting as is so I stopped. It has broad strokes and the colors are not tooooo blended. I loved the red for the background too.

Hey I got a lot of comments about the running with the bull and teaching English at 13, but no one commented on my kissing the Blarney Stone. Did ya know that in order to kiss it you have to climb to the top of Blarney Castle which is mostly in ruins and dangle backwards off the side of the stone wall while a little old guide holds your waist? And then as you arch your back and lower yourself backwards - held by a man who weighed no more than me, you kiss the stoney protuberance which probably has been kissed by a million people. Yeck...And if you're not praying you don't pick up germs from the stone you're praying the little guide doesn't let go.

"Make My Day"

I love the loose, expressive strokes on this one, Judy. You are a pug portrait master!! *scraping my wrinkley noggin at your feet*
OH my, you kissed the blarney stone? I hope they had one of those little dispensers with handwipes nearby so you could sanitize it first.
xxooo

Love the pug painting! I forgot what the significance of kissing the Blarney Stone was. Can you expand? And congratulations on kissing the stone!

Well the contortions and groping to kiss the Stone appear to have been worth it. Best pug painting yet. Melissa is going to pop a vein when she sees this. Bright, modern and fresh. Expertly capturing the pug's natural delightful expression. I continue to learn from you Sensei!

He is so cute! I'm in the process of trying to paint two puppy brother Pugs - your work is a guiding light!
