Anniversary

I named this painting "Anniversary" because it seems an appropriate gift for a special occassion or milestones. And I just didn't like the sound of "Milestones".

I used the palette knife for this painting, it's thick in some areas and although I used a lot of muted grays and taupes, it's actually colorful.

"Anniversary" 14 x 14 inches on stretched canvas.

Casa Cantoniera

SOLD

These red homes are located along the roads of Italy belonging to a road works official. Though my painting does not depict a road, street or highway, I chose this rich red terracotta color for my home and it reminded me of the "Casa Cantoniera" I saw dotting the roadways of italy.
6 x 6 x 3/4" - Oil, Palette knife on stretched Canvas.
I really appreciate you looking and reading my blogs!

Beaches

It's Summer and it's hot outside. The sun has that brilliant searing white glint as it reflects off of car windows I pass while I drive on hot pavement...a quieter, cooler beach was on my mind.

"Beaches", Oil with Palette knife. 9" x 12" x 3/4".

No Pretense

I love the big strokes, thick paint, the way the paint blends on each touch. I chose a reddish brown sky and muted greens. Added a touch of cad red on the roof.

"No Pretense" 11" x 14", Oil on Stretched Canvas.

House with the Blue Roof

A little practice painting. Doing what I love - painting with the palette knife. Several years ago I was lucky enough to meet Francois Arenas during one of Gravepine city's Gallery Night event. I loved his style of painting and was thrilled that he was giving lessons. I hadn't been using the palette knife as often lately and felt a little rusty.

Happy Chaos

I'm taking an on-line class on "organization" and one of our homework assignments is to share our studio space. Here is a photo of my "atelier" - it's not tooooo bad in this photo. The most favorite thing about my painting room is this red cart. I can move it around my small studio from easel to easel. I've got a fairly big closet (doors in the background) which hides my "stuff". I love this space!

Back From New Orleans

I took a haitus from painting for a little while... I went to my all school reunion which was held in New Orleans last weekend. It was great to see friends and make new ones. We had graduates from the class of '60 to the class of 2007!! My school was in Japan - Sagamihara Elementary, Zama Middle and High School. After school we all scattered like seeds in the wind and it is difficult to have reunions in Japan so ever couple of years our Alumni Association host an all school reunion in various locations in the U.S.

Had to make a stop at the Cafe du Monde in the mornings for their Cafe Au Lait and Begneits. I got to see Jackson Square and the art that is hung on the iron fences, stopped in at a few of the art galleries along Royal Street. And I got to visit with a long time friend Linda Lesperance whom I hadn't seen in many many years.

I Can't Hear Very Well....

A while back I had an ear infection along with whatever else I had - this is how I felt.

No, no...Nancy, Kim and Fil came to my house for our kinda monthly art chat today. We are two oil painters, a potter, and an abstract artist who get together to get inspired. We talk about art, our pets, and everything.

This photo is of a little toy that Nancy brought over today for my Tina and Stella. Thank you, Nancy but I'm sorry, Stella decided she'd like to take a taste of the little guy. After everyone had left I saw the bunny standing just like you see it under the dining table. I had to take a photo of it and share.

Bottles of Wine

I was asked to paint some wine themed paintings. Here are two of them along with the previous post which I'll be taking to Sandella's. Bottles of Wine - 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Gessoed Masonite Board.
