Till Tomorrow

"Till Tomorrow"
11 x 14 x 3/4" Oil on Canvas
I'd painted a similar, larger painting a while back in a square format. When I was asked to do this size I was a little worried that the horizontal format might not work for the subject matter. While the boat is key - it's the sky that I wanted to fill the painting with. But I think it turned out ok.

Dogs, Dogs

"Bonnie"
5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board

"Ole"
5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board
A beautiful quote I found:
"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Snow

"House with Red Roof"
11 x 14" Oil on Canvas/Palette knife work
Well it's Christmas Eve and SURPRISE, SURPRISE! It's snowing. It was in the 70's yesterday - and I even went out to dinner with bare legs and sandals! But today the snow came in and ruined my plans for a Christmas Eve dinner with friends - the roads are getting a little too cold to drive on and there is snow everywhere - the windows a foggy and frosted.
We're having a white Christmas Eve - it's perfect!!!

Chemise - Palette Knife Oil Painting

"Chemise"
8 x 8 x 3/4 inches, Oil on Canvas
Some paintings are just fun! This one was fun to paint. That's not right. Most of the time I'm having fun painting; I'm in a better place when I'm mushing paint about and getting it on my hands, my face, clothes.
I must say, though - as I was just about finished and really happy with the way it had turne out noticed that her hand was in the wrong place!!! I had to paint it out and re-design with her hand on her knee - I think it looks a lot better this way!
This painting is just a tad bigger at 8 inches square.

Looking for Someting in Red

"Something in Red"
6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board
Palette Knife
Christmas, parties, what to wear...and then I heard Lorrie Morgan singing "I'm looking for something in red....something that's shocking to turn someone's head...."
It's a good time of year to wear something red....

Angels with Attitude - Doll

"Doll"
8 x 6 inches, Oil on Raymar Canvas Board
Another Angel with Attitude. I had a birthday last week. I guess that's a good thing. I'm alive because I have them. But I don't like 'em...Darn...
My painting friend Nancy Medina gave me a beautiful plaque for my birthday with a lovely quote. It says:
"FRIENDS are angels who lift us up to our feet when our own wings have trouble remembering how to fly."
My friends definitely are my angels. I don't know how many angels' shoulders I use to whine on, and who help me to my feet.
Thank you dear friends, dear dear angels.

Bedhead Dog

"Meemo Bedhead"
5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board
Little Meemo was under the weather the other day but Sharon tells me that he is on the mend. Oh it's so difficult to see our pets not feeling very well because they can't tell us they are hurting. I'm so glad Meemo if feeling better!

Angel Painting with Palette Knife

"I'm Listening"
6 x 8, Oil on Raymar Canvas Board
When I painted this angel at my weekly painting with my painting pals, Barbara said the angel looked like she was holding a cigarette or something. Kinda has an attitude about her. That got me to thinking. Hmmmmm Angels with Attitude. That'd be fun. So I will be painting a few more "Angels with Attitude". So what if the angel who listens to you developes an attitude - "Stop whining" the angel says to you!! Oh my!
If you read my last post about honey roasted peanuts, I'm sure my angel looked the other way when I stuck that doggie treat in my mouth instead of gently guiding my hand away from the canister....and is still laughing at me!
Have fun!

Honey Roasted Peanuts

"Golden"
5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board
Another commission.
S was showing me how well the new foster dog responds to little treats....Stella, my pointer sister loved the treats too - she'd proudly stand for it. He was reaching into a large can of honey-roasted peanuts.
I reached for one and popped one in my mouth - it had a fishy taste, not at all sweet and when I spit it out it was square shaped. I looked at the can and it did say "honey-roasted peanuts" so I figured I'd gotten a "bad" one and that it was one of those nuts with some coating on it, so I popped it back into my mouth....YEAH - stupid of me! YEAH....and then it hit me!!! These were not honey-roasted peanuts but someone had put doggie treats in that canister!!
Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh...really? It took two attempts for me to figure it out!?!? Well, I refuse to "sit" or "stay" for that horrid tasting honey roasted peanut!!
Have a wonderful Saturday!

All Dogs Go To Heaven

"Genny"
5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board
I love the title of the animated movie, "All Dogs Go To Heaven". I'm sure of it. This is a commissioned painting of "Genny" who is now an angel. She wanted a painting of Genny as a Christmas present to herself.
"You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!'" - Dave Barry
