30" x 40", Oil on Canvas
Day in and day out, so many little things happen. We feel up and high and then we fall to the ground.
My mother had a heart attack at the beginning of last week. As some of you know, I'm half Japanese and my mother is the Japanese half. She lives a world away. I can't just drop everything to be with her though I'd love to and when I do go there during times like this, I'm more in the way as it is not where I've been all these years. I'm a foreigner in a foreign land. Even though I still speak the language, when I am there, under circumstances like this I can only lend my presence there. I don't know where my parents keep the salt, I've been out of their home for too long.
I hate being so far away from my family.
She's fine now. I just got off the phone and she sounded like her usual self. She took my niece shopping yesterday, she said. She's watching her favorite T.V. shows and she's cleaning house...
On a more different tone than the above, my paintings can be found at the online gallery, Ugallery. I am excited to report that I am now on their "Most Popular Artist" page - yay! and they've contacted me about printing a few of my paintings to sell as a print on their sister site Paperwork. They've done a nice little write-up: http://www.ugallery.com/blog/post/Paperwork-Newsletter-Judy-Mackeys-Sunflowers.aspx
