A Good Year

To be honest, I couldn't tell a good year from a bad year when it comes to spirits. I like what I like. My husband and I have had the opportunity to live and travel in Europe. I've found that some of the best wine is the "house wine".

I visited the blog of a fellow traveller and artist, Kit Hevron Mahoney. Her paintings make me feel like I was in Europe again and makes me yearn to be there.

"On Guard" - Vatican's Swiss Guard

The Swiss Guards have for centuries watched over Vatican City. Although they dress in a colorful renaissance costume, they are well trained, courageous and loyal Military Soldiers who protect the Pope. Click on this link to read about their history - it's rather interesting.

Oil on gessoed masonite board - 7 x 5".

Himawari - (Sunflower Painting)

Another way to say "sunflowers" in a language that I know well - Japanese. I was born in Japan and spent most of my childhood there.
This is a palette knife painting - 22 x 28" inches on stretched canvas.

Charmed - A Purple Marguerite Flower

Thank you all for asking how I am doing! I am doing much, much better.

This is a little painting of a purple marguerite. I tried several background colors and found this aqua-green-blue to be the most appropriate.

I'm calling this "Charmed"...Purple just seemed like the color of wizards and so a little magical.
It is painted with the palette - 6 x 6 inches on Raymar board.

Flower - For Lack of a Better Title...

I have not posted on my blog in a little while because I was under the weather and had not felt well enough to paint for the past couple of weeks. It's been too long. I'm starting to feel better and feel the need to putter with my paints.

My mind is too tired to think of a good title so I'm calling this little 6 x 6 inch painting "Flower".
It is available on Ebay.

Field of Yellow Flowers

Last year we had a wet Spring here in North Texas. The low-lying, flat area of our property which touches the Army Corp of Engineer's land skirting Lake Grapevine flooded. This Spring, the orchard and vegetable garden that we had planted in years previous has been replaced by a field of volunteer Black-Eyed Susans, seeds which were deposited by the flood water.

This is a small painting, 4 x 4 inches, "Field of Yellow", Oil on gessoed masonite, painted with the palette knife.
Available on Ebay.

Flowers Make Me Glad

I'd painted this small painting of a vase full of Gladiolas this last year on stretched canvas using just the palette knife. It's Glad season again although the bulbs I planted in my garden did not do so well this year but paintings always are in season.
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 7" x 5".
