This Just Doesn't Seem to be My Day

Just got done scraping the second of the two paintings I started today. I was up early and started painting but was unhappy so I scraped it and wiped it down with mineral spirits and started this one on another canvas and as you can see...scrape...scrape...
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Boy Nancy, I can surely identify with you today. I've had two days in a row where I bombed on paintings! I ended up making paper for collage instead, and posted two pics of our blizzard...here's hoping that tomorrow is a better day in the studio for both of us!! Hang in there!

Wow..... artists I adore and admire have these days too? What was unfortunate for you, inspired me Judy.
HUGS!

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat, the painting I did today will be wiped later tonight. It's nice to read that I'm not alone.

Hello Judy - Boo, Hiss about today and tomorrow's winter weather, but yeah for you to wipe away and paint in the studio all warm and cozy tomorrow. I appreciate you sharing a wipe off and talking about those "off days". Nice to know we all have them.

I hope we get to paint together next weekend. :) I'm passing on the "passion for painting award" to you, please go to my blog...

Hahaha...if we don't have these days, and think each and every one of our paintings or works is good, then something must be wrong, right? Come see my huge box of reject silk dyed pieces, canvases I cut out of their frames, broken clay pieces, ugly glazes, and wearable art pieces gone wrong. From these we learn or launch off into another direction??? They are never mistakes, just "lessons."

No Nancy, this is a gift. Think of how often God scrapes our messes off and begins again with us... never missing a heart beat. My BEST paintings are ones that were scraped...some more than once. You are building to a greatness with this piece...give it peace... let go and let God and it will happen. Don't control it or you will scrap again!

I love the subtle tones that are left here. Rotate the canvas and what do you see in different directions?

I have a pile in the corner that should have been scraped. Your work is beautiful I know you will make it work out!

Judging from the comments I guess we all experience days like this!
Angela - thank you for mentioning me on your blog.
You can call me Nancy! I don't mind - we're good friends. And Laurie - you're right - we humans are scraped over and over and come to this point - I like me better for the bumps and bruises!
Hellenne - true, true - we can't always make winners all the time! It's the journey that is so much fun.
Happy painting to all,

Judy

I think it looks great! Sometimes I like my scraped off paintings better than my "real" ones. So, I've been there.
