Scent of Lilacs

I was experimenting with a new medium "Medium 5" (butter) by Lukas - it was new to me - it may have been around for awhile. It speeded drying. I loved the purples in the iris and couldn't resist painting another purple flower - the Lilac. This painting is so loose and almost abstract that if I'd not told you it was of lilac flowers, would you have known?

"Scent of Lilac"
14 x 14 inches, Oil on Stretched Canvas

I've also discovered a new ecommerce site for art. It is called eCrater. I have a widget to it on the side - I've started listing a few paintings on it. If you're an artist, check it out and let me know what you think - thanks.

This is yummy. I love the colors and the way you did the background.

What a wonderful job in handling a palette knife. I can almost smell the lilacs. I love the colors of warm and cool along with the texture, it really caught my eye. Very nice painting!

Hi Nancy - I'm liking the background - muted colors and all.
Hi Carol - Thank you - I really do like painting with the palette for the texture. (and for the fact that I don't need to do straight lines LOL)
Have a wonderful day to you both!

I knew those were lilacs right away! You are quite the impressionist Judy! A modern day Camille Pissarro? Or more of a Judy MacMonet?

I checked out the site. The layout is nice but the navigation is not as intuitive as the others. Thanks for always letting us know about these avenues for revenue!

Judy: Nice use of a high key palette. I bet this painting evolved as you layered on the paint!
