11 x 14 inches, Oil on Canvas
About five years ago I was sitting down to a cup of coffee and opened our local newspaper....I'd been feeling that middle-aged itch, I suppose. I was a Realtor at the time but I didn't feel like it was working for me. I guess I was feeling a little melancholic and sorry for myself that morning and reading the classifieds when I saw a little ad that read "Art Lessons".
That was all it took. I'd not painting in decades and suddenly here it was! Art lessons! I could take art lessons and get back into it. I immediately called and set up lessons and here I am.
I am so glad I'd called on that ad and got back into painting because it has been a joyous little journey. It has also taken me on a sometimes bumpy road.
This little rose painting is one of the first that I did when I started back into painting. It's not for sale - it reminds me of my first art lessons.

It's really lovely. And a wonderful reminder of your return to art.
This is one of your first!!?? Wow, you are so much more advanced than I ever was....it's gorgeous and executed masterfully.
Your first? Unbelievable! I really like the way you chose to show the back of the flower instead of the typical front view. Really lovely!
Oh Gwen - not my very first. My first is another rose, though and one of these days I'll post it too. I was a contrarian from the very first and wanted to paint the flower's underside. I've done others like that too since this painting.
I did however paint when I was a youngster and my last oil painting was in 1982. ;)
Thank you to Ann and Sheila - happy painting all,
Judy
That's it, if this is your first painting, I'm giving up painting. Beautiful and very introspective.
Hellenne - lol - it was not my first - omg!!!
Please don't give up painting - your paintings are beautiful and btw I really like Ginko's too!!!
Hugs,
Judy

So beautiful...Love the colors.
This is probably the most beautiful painted rose I've seen in a long, long time Judy. It is absolutely terrific.
