Big Sunflowers

"Tall Black Vase"

20 x 16 x 3/4" inches - Oil on Canvas, Palette knife painting

I'm sure I've mentioned here in the past that I like the advice Linda Blondheim writes about on her blog Art Notes. She often writes about marketing and art business. I strived to follow her advice on customer service when I first started to sell on Ebay. Last month I participated at the New Vintage Art Show and visited with several artists. I bought a pottery piece from one. I really liked her work and was thinking I'd like a few more pieces, but when I got home and opened the bag she had wrapped the bowl in - there was nothing, no way to contact her. No business card in the bag, no contact information on the receipt. And on the bottom of the beautiful bowl was her initials!! No full name!!
So, note to self - make sure that I put contact information on everything I sell and give out!!
Marketing is such a learning experience!

Beautiful still life...I really like the contrast of the hard edges and soft muted colors in the lower right hand corner. Excellent advice, as well!

Love the chunky and fresh feel from your knife work..very well done. good piece of advice too. I put a printed postcard in every sale with my contact info printed on the back.

Great advise Judy!
I love your sunflowers. It's thundering here this morning and I just got to my computer and this is what greets me.... beautiful sunflowers! : )

Judy, LOVE LOVE the sunflowers! Don't you just love working in palette knife! I know what you mean about marketing. I like Linda's site as well...she taught me the same thing you mused about...now, EVERY time I send something, (even my give-away contest gifts) along goes my business card, or a post card...SOMETHING with my info! Great tip to remind us of!

Hi Angela - I wanted to play with the white which made the contrast really fun.
Todd, Sheila, Saundra - yes I LOVE the palette and the free-ness of the palette knife.
Manon - it's Thursday morning, the sky is dark and Thunder is rumbling here in North Texas.

Good day to paint in

Beautiful sunflowers - I love your style - love the textures you create with that palette knife. I've never painted with oils but am just about to start an acrylic painting course, so am looking forward to experimenting that knife! I couldn't agree more with your advice - so important to keep your name out there.
