Palette Knife Oil Painting - "Stella" - Pet Portrait by Judy Mackey

"Stella"

10 x 10 inches, Oil on Linen Canvas Board

NFS

I was inspired to paint a dog portrait using the palette knife by seeing Carrie Jacobson's dog paintings. Carrie posts on the Palette Knife Painters Blog and the Art for the Animals Blog.
If you have a moment, please check out the latest post on the Art for the Animals Blog and read the beautiful story about Mozart. I'll warn you, though - have a tissue nearby...
Up until now, I'd done all my pet portraits with the brush and on a smaller scale. This particular painting is from a previous one I'd done with a brush and I use this image on some of my business cards. It's a palette knife painting of my own dog an English Pointer mix, Stella so it's not for sale but I'd be very happy to paint your special pet. And if you are a rescue organization and would like me to paint a pet for your shelter or under your care please contact me! Email me at info@judymackey.com

Stella is a stunner, deep and rich with wonders and worries.

I'm thinking that she may just make the most sensitive "Thinking of you" card.

You have been a busy busy lady Miss Judy! I appreciate you pointing me to the palette knife painters blog. I'm now a follower. I admire your pooch portraits but its your figures that are your signature. I think you're the only palette knife painter I know who does a wonderful series of these.
